Titanic: Her Journey
It's been 100 years since the sinking of the Titanic and to commemorate that fateful day some of the world's top Titanic experts got together and helped create an app telling you just about everything you'd ever want to know about the ship -- from its promising beginning to its tragic end. Titanic: Her Journey has plenty of archived photos inside, outside and more current shots from where she rests today at the bottom of the Atlantic. You'll also get a timeline of its sinking told, in part, through quotes from survivors. For those really interested in the minutia there's an interactive blueprint of the deck plans as well as a section on odd facts even the most studied Titanic buff may not know, like that Titanic had a cat named Jenny but before leaving Belfast she took her litter off the ship as if she had a premonition something bad was about to happen. Titanic: Her Journey is an iPad only app for $4.99.
If you're among the millions of people who had to become among the very first owners of the new iPad, Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy easily has to rank as one of the current frontrunner titles that best take advantage of that sharp, new retina display. The game itself is pretty much what you'd expect out of any fighter pilot game. You're thrown into some war with a state-of-the-art jet in your hands, filled with variety of weapons with which to dispose of enemies either on the ground or also in the air. You can also do battle with others online. What sets this one apart from others though is the detail in the graphics: How realistic the water, clouds, just about everything on the screen looks. Some solid ammo for the argument that tablet gaming is creeping closer and closer to console gameplay. Sky Gamblers: Air Supremacy is out now for all iOS devices at $4.99.
