City council working to make parking decks safer
RALEIGH -- Raleigh's city council is working to make downtown parking decks safer.
The city said Tuesday that it's coordinating with the Downtown Raleigh Alliance to expand the Downtown Ambassador program. Men and women will be specially trained to be the eyes and ears of the police department.
This is all in response to the death of Progress Energy employee Cynthia Moreland. The Wendell woman was kidnapped from a parking deck in August.
She was found dead more than a week later in Harnett County. Antonio Chance has been charged in connection with her murder.
The city hopes to have special patrol in place by the beginning of next year.
