RALEIGH -- The local community will have a chance to say goodbye to Cynthia Moreland on Friday night at Mount Peace Baptist Church in Raleigh.

Moreland was kidnapped in August from a downtown parking deck while on her way to work. Her body was found Friday behind an abandoned house in Harnett County.

Antonio Chance, a convicted sex offender, is charged with kidnapping and murder, and the district attorney’s office says it will seek the death penalty if he is convicted.

Moreland, a Progress Energy employee, was an active member at her church. She loved spending time with her grandson; and though they are devastated by the news of her death, family members are glad to finally have some closure.

Funeral services for Moreland will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Calvary Word of Faith Church. Friday’s visitation is scheduled from 5-7 p.m.
