Officers find missing woman's car

RALEIGH -- Police officers found the car of a missing Wendell woman Wednesday morning in southeast Raleigh.

Cynthia Moreland, 48, disappeared Tuesday after she dropped her husband off at work. She was last seen at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. She swiped an access card to a downtown parking garage ten minutes later, but she never reported to work at Progress Energy, and she never returned home that evening.

The Raleigh Police department found Moreland’s abandoned 1998 Toyota Camry on Malta Avenue near Rock Quarry Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Foul play is not known to be involved at this time,

but officers said they are not ruling it out, and Moreland’s family said they don’t know why her car would be in southeast Raleigh because she would have no reason to be there.

Police are attempting to identify and locate a man in a surveillance video. He is believed to have information in this case. The video was taken on Tuesday at a Raleigh-area store.

The man is described as a male with a dark complexion and noticeable scar near his mouth. He is between 25 and 35 years of age. He stands between 5’7” and 5’10” and weighs approximately 185 pounds.

When last seen, he had on dark sunglasses and was dressed in a multi-colored striped shirt, stonewashed jean shorts, and white sneakers with no shoe laces. He had dread locks that were gathered into a light colored do-rag.

Anyone who might have information about this individual or Moreland’s whereabouts is asked to call the Raleigh Police Department’s Detective Division at (919) 890-3555.

A reward will be provided for information that assists the investigation.
