FAYETTEVILLE -- Some Fayetteville City Council members would like the city to look into adopting a curfew for minors.

Council member Valencia Applewhite submitted the idea to the council during their Tuesday night work session.

She says residents at crime watch meetings have asked about adopting a city-wide curfew. Applewhite believes any curfew would need the support of parents to be successful.

"It is not just a curfew that we want. We want to, you know the old adage, it takes a village to raise a child. It really does. So, not just a curfew, but a whole community involvement," said Applewhite.

City council decided to have the chief of police look into the issue and do some research.

He's expected to come back in October or November with his recommendation.
