CHARLOTTE -- One man was shot during an attempted robbery Wednesday night in east Charlotte.

Police say the victim was shot after leaving McBonie’s on Monroe Road when he refused to hand over his money to an armed man. The victim then chased the suspect in his truck before stopping at a nearby gas station to call for help.

He was taken to the hospital but is expected to be OK.

Police are still looking for the suspect.
