GASTONIA, N.C. -- The man arrested in connection with a car wreck that killed a Gaston County teenager appeared in court Tuesday afternoon.
Howard Pasour is charged with murder, death by vehicle and DWI. This was at least his third DWI arrest in the past three years.
At the hearing, the judge raised his bond from $2 million to $4 million. The judge called Pasour a danger to the community.
The mother of 17-year-old Laura Fortenberry, the victim killed in the crash, was at hearing. Melissa Armstrong said she wanted him to see her and to see the pain in her face.
"He's not lost a child," she said. "I lost my only child that I have no longer. No grandbabies in the future. No nothing. I want him to see the pain in my face that I'm trying to go through because he decided to get behind the wheel of a car and kill someone's child."
Armstrong's mission is now making sure no other family feels her pain.
"We're going to fix laws. We're going to fix it so these drunk drivers don't kill other people's children," she said. "It's not right. Let's change the judicial system. Let's change it today."
Pasour is being held in the Gaston County Jail.
The Fortenberry family will hold visitation Wednesday night from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Greene Funeral Home, located at 1503 South York Road in Gastonia.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Venture Church in Dallas, and a burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Mount Holly.
