CHARLOTTE -- Police arrested three people in connection with a double shooting that killed one man and seriously injured another early Sunday morning in north Charlotte.

Wendell Lamaitre, Damien Bond and Lauren English have all been charged with murder, attempted murder and various robbery charges.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. at the Budget Inn, just off North Graham Street and Interstate 85. When officers arrived, they say they found 33-year-old Keith Cox dead in the hallway and Clayton King suffering from gunshot wounds.

Witnesses told police they saw two men flee the scene in a dark-colored Toyota Camry. Police say that information helped them locate the three suspects.

Family members say Cox was the victim of a botched robbery attempt. At last check, King was in serious condition at Carolinas Medical Center-Main.
