MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Tuesday, Dale Earnhardt fans celebrated the legendary race car driver’s birthday.

April 29 is Dale Earnhardt Day, and there were events at DEI in Mooresville to mark the day. Fans come from across the country to take part, and for some, no distance is too far.

“In all we came 2,600 miles,” detailed Robert Harp, Earnhardt fan. “We left San Francisco last night about 10:30 p.m. … just to celebrate this day with Dale Earnhardt.”

Also at the event, Hershey’s unveiled a 6x8 mosaic of Earnhardt, created of tiny fan pictures. Hershey’s wants more photos to be included in art work that will be on display at DEI. For more information on how to send photos in, click
