RALEIGH -- Mother Nature left its mark on an Apex home Saturday evening. Firefighters say lightning from storms caused a fire at a house on Wimberly Road just before 6 p.m.

Lightning struck the deck in the back of the house. One person was home, but they got out safely.

Investigators say the house is a total loss. Firefighters from at least five different fire departments helped put out the flames.
