Marathon returns after 5 year absence
RALEIGH -- The Sony Ericsson City of Oaks Marathon and Rex Healthcare Half Marathon marks the return of the marathon to Raleigh after a five year absence.
The name refers to Raleigh's historic distinction as the "City of Oaks," with its abundance of oak trees and calls to mind the natural areas that abound within the metropolitan capital of North Carolina.
Both races begin at 7 a.m., Sunday, November 4 at Trinity Road, between the N.C. State Fairgrounds and Carter Finley Stadium.
