Chemical spill at Statesville plant

STATESVILLE, N.C. -- A chemical leak has forced the evacuation of an Iredell County neighborhood.

The spill happened Monday afternoon at Mocaro Industries, a fabric dyeing operation on Garner Bagnal Boulevard in Statesville. Police have rerouted traffic around the factory.

A shelter has been established at the Iredell County Agriculture Center.

Mocaro Industries employs 250 people. No injuries were reported.

Hazmat crews from as far away as Charlotte were on the scene helping contain the leak.
