NAACP questions suspect's guilt
James Johnson
RALEIGH -- The NAACP has filed a complaint with the State Bar alleging an assistant district attorney in Wilson mishandled the murder case of a 21-year-old man.
James Johnson is charged with raping and killing 17-year-old Brittany Willis. He has been in jail for more than three years awaiting trial but the NAACP says there is no evidence linking Johnson to her death.
Another man -- 19-year-old Kenneth Meeks -- is already serving a life sentence for the murder. Meeks told police that Johnson was involved but later said he acted alone.
Johnson is scheduled to stand trial later this month.
