Fire safety tour stops in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE -- The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation is launching a nationwide 19-city tour to promote fire safety, and on Thursday, the event made a stop in the Queen City.
The tour included a fire safety fair with educational displays and training demonstrations. It also highlighted the untold stories of those left behind by a fallen firefighter.
The foundation says an average of 100 firefighters are killed in the line of duty each year. The goal of the tour is to promote efforts to reduce the number of deaths by 50 percent.
