CHARLOTTE -- The Tony Award-winning musical “Rent” opened Tuesday night at Ovens Auditorium.

One performer, John Watson, graduated from North Mecklenburg High School and attended Davidson.

"It's one of the greatest feelings in the world. To do a show in a city that i love so much is really incredible,” he said. “A lot of people I went to school with didn't even know this side of me, so I want to at least come back and give them a good show.

“I know there's going to be a lot of people watching."

“Rent” runs for one week. Tickets are still available for all shows.
