We all know that drinking water is good for you, but half of us are still buying bottled water which is waste of resources and money! Do Your Part and break your bottled water habit. All of those bottles may be convenient but by doing a few simple things, you’ll never need one again.

The sticker shock alone is a good reason to make a change. Americans spend $7 billion dollars on these things that are only used once. And get this, it takes 3 times as much water to make the bottle than it does to fill it.

So, the first thing to do, is to invest in reusable bottles for your family. They are only a few dollars and they come in every size and shape imaginable and will pay for themselves in a matter of weeks. If you feel like you need filtered water, you can buy all sorts of water filters for your home. But remember, most tests show that your tap water is just as good as bottled water.

If for some reason, you have to buy bottled water, pick a better bottle. Look for bottles made from less plastic and make sure you recycle them.

And here’s something not everyone knows: you can’t toss bottle caps into the recycling bin. They clog up and jam recycling machinery.

If you stop and think about all that goes into making, shipping and disposing of plastic water bottles, you’ll want to Do Your Part and and go the reusable route. It’ll be easy on you, the environment and your wallet!
