CHARLOTTE — As President Obama prepares to make his way to Charlotte, major changes are in the works for his acceptance speech Thursday evening.

The DNC Committee announced Wednesday that it will move the speech to the Time Warner Cable Arena. The speech was originally scheduled for the Bank of America stadium Thursday night.

The move is a big change for convention attendees. The DNC Committee has been watching the weather and because of the threat for severe weather, Wednesday morning they decided to relocate.

Workers had already started building the stage, and now must shift gears to prepare and have the speech at the arena. Convention CEO Steve Kerrigan said that they made the decision to ensure the safety and security of delegates as well as convention guests.

Around 65,000 people signed up for community credentials. However, the arena only holds 15,000 people. Kerrigan said the president will address the community credential holders on a national conference call Thursday and that they plan to work with the Obama campaign to make sure the people unable to attend Thursday's event will be invited to see the president between now and Election Day.

Meanwhile, President Obama is scheduled to arrive in Charlotte later Wednesday afternoon. Preparations are under way for Air Force One to land at the Air National Guard facility in west Charlotte.
