Residents concerned about a proposed hotel near SouthPark Mall will have a chance to voice those concerns Monday at a public hearing on a rezoning petition by the Charlotte City Council. Residents say the proposal for a five-story hotel on a small wooded lot on Park South Drive, just south of Fairview Road, would have a negative impact on the area.

Honda Aircraft Co. said it is making big advancements in the development of HondaJet. Sunday, the company announced the fourth FAA conforming HondaJet completed its first flight on May 4 at PTI Airport and said it is getting closer to certification. Manufacturing is already under way on its first, full-motion flight simulator to train pilots.

Officials with the Transportation Security Administration have been upgrading equipment across the country to speed up security checks. Many travelers said if the technology speeds up the security lines, they support the change.
