Sports Anchor/Director Jim Connors
Jim views his arrival at News 14 Carolina in Raleigh along the lines of netting a hat trick (hockey terminology for scoring three goals). “Living and working in the Triangle is a sportscaster’s dream. I had a taste of it having spent four years Down East (where he met and married wife, Kim) and later moving to the Piedmont.” The “highlights” of Jim’s four year tenure in the Triad include the arrival of son Brice and daughter Landry Paige. The family’s move to Raleigh brings the kids closer to their grandparents and his wife closer to the beach.

Jim has a passion for North Carolina sports, having already worked extensively with Duke, Carolina, NC State and Wake Forest. On the pro side, he’s tackled the Panthers, Hornets and Hurricanes. He’s covered racing events in Daytona, Charlotte and numerous small tracks around the state. He is a 9-time North Carolina Associated Press award winner who relishes the opportunity to live and work in the Triangle (“if all goes well I would love for my children to grow up here”), and to direct a sports department that, in addition to covering the state’s major college and professional sports, will give priority attention to small colleges, high schools, and quite possibly, your neighborhood little league and soccer team.

Jim has a B.S. degree in Television and Radio Communications with a sports concentration and Economics minor from Ithaca College in upstate New York. He spent four years in “Big Sky Country” as sports director of the CBS affiliate in Billings, Montana.

In his spare time, Jim enjoys golfing, fishing and listening to Foreigner or Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.
