GATLINBURG, Tenn. -- A Pittsboro teenager died after collapsing during a marathon in Tennessee. Christopher Hasbrouck, 19, was in the ROTC program at Appalachian State and volunteered to run in the Mountain Men Memorial March in Gatlinburg on April 21.
According to media outlets in Tennessee, he collapsed on mile 10 due to dehydration and a heat-related illness.
He passed away on Wednesday at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
