HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -- The Carolina Raptor Center hopes to take flight on North Carolina roads.
A bill was just introduced in Raleigh to allow a specialized license plate for the Raptor Center. The design includes the center's logo, along with the slogan, "imagination in flight," a play on North Carolina's "first in flight" logo.
It's just another creative revenue source the center is attempting to get to try and work its way through tough financial times.
"That's one thing that this economy that we're going through has helped us be more efficient, more creative and thinking of doing business differently," said Jim Warren, COO of the Carolina Raptor Center. "It's been challenging, but it's rewarding."
Warren says the Raptor Center's financial condition is stable and much better than this time last year.
"Visitation is up," he said. "Individual donation is up, but we could still use the support and help."
The state legislature still needs to approve the Raptor Center license plate before the DMV can take any orders.
