CHARLOTTE – Police say they've found 4-month-old Jaylen Dillard. The baby had been with Jonathan Dillard, whom the child's mother says is his biological father. Jonathan Dillard now faces child abduction charges.

Authorities say the child has been brought to the hospital to be checked out.

Police were concerned for the baby's safety because he was born prematurely and needed medication.

While the child's mother, Jennetta Walker, says 24-year-old Jonathan Dillard is the child's biological father, there's no legal proof that he is. Walker says Jonathan Dillard didn't show up to sign the birth certificate.

An Amber Alert was never in effect for the missing child. Salisbury police say the case didn't meet the requirements for an Amber Alert to be issued across the state, which would have blasted information to police departments and on electric billboards along highways.

In addition to the child abduction charge, Jonathan Dillard also faces a charge of assault on a female.
