CHARLOTTE – A former American Idol winner will be in the Queen City on Wednesday to tape a new reality show.

Fantasia Barrino plans to appear Wednesday at The Relatives youth shelter to tape an episode of her new reality show, which will air next year on VH1.

The Relatives is an emergency shelter on East Boulevard that houses runaway and homeless children and teens.

Barrino, a North Carolina native, recently joined the cast of The Color Purple stage production.
