WILMINGTON – More than 150 people with disabilities from across the state got the chance to play sports with equipment adapted to their needs. It’s all part of UNC Wilmington’s eighth annual Accessible Recreation Day.

"It gets me out of the house; I can do different things,” said participant, Davey Bartlett. “Like before I had my injury, I could play basketball. It's just fun to get back into it."

The festivities also marked the launch of Accessible Golf of Wilmington. It’s a program offering free golf instruction courses to people with disabilities, and includes a golf cart with a swivel chair – allowing participants to stay seated while swinging a club.
